Alwaght- Iran's crude exports and oil output have hit new highs in 2023 despite US sanctions, according to consultants, shipping data and a source familiar with the matter, adding to global supply when other producers are limiting output, the Reuters news reported.
In May, the country exported 1.93 million barrels a day.
This is the highest export rate since Donald Trump scraped the 2015 deal and reinstated sanctions on Tehran in May 2018.
Despite sanctions, Iran's crude shipments in May went beyond 1.5 million per day, the Reuters said citing Kpler, a provider of flows data.
They were around 2.5 million bpd in 2018, before the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The International Energy Agency this week put Iran's May production at 2.87 million bpd, close to Iran's official figure, the news agency cited International Energy Agency that published a report this week.
