ALWAGHT- The chief of Iran’s Army stated on Saturday that Iran is fully prepared to counter any threat, highlighting active deterrence as the core of its defense strategy.
During a ceremony for the addition of the destroyer Sahand and Kordestan vessels to Iran’s Navy, Major General Amir Hatami emphasized that Iran’s defense strategy is based on active defense and smart deterrence, pledging readiness for a decisive response whenever national interests are threatened. He highlighted the Navy’s sacrifices during the Iran–Iraq War and Iran’s role as a stabilizing force in regional security.
Hatami noted that nearly five decades of experience since the 1979 Revolution have shown Iran’s constructive role in the region, contrasting it with countries that disrupt regional stability. He also referenced recent attacks, including Israel’s June 13 offensive against Iran and the subsequent US bombings of nuclear sites, describing them as violations of international law.
In retaliation, Iran targeted strategic sites in the occupied territories and the US al-Udeid air base in Qatar, successfully halting the assault. Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi reaffirmed that Iran’s strategic naval forces remain fully prepared to deliver a firm and effective response to any future acts of aggression, underscoring their operational readiness demonstrated during the 12-day conflict in June.
