ALWAGHT- A Palestinian teenager was killed after being shot by Israeli forces during an overnight operation in a town in the northern Israeli-occupied West Bank, residents reported, as violence continues to rise.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli soldiers fatally shot 16-year-old Mohammad Iyad Abahreh during an overnight raid in Silat al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin, on Saturday evening, citing Palestinian security sources. According to the report, Israeli forces seized the teenager’s body and removed it to an unknown location. Earlier the same day, troops had stormed the town, entered multiple homes, fired live ammunition and stun grenades, and deployed snipers on rooftops, leading to confrontations with residents.
In a separate incident, a Palestinian man was wounded during an Israeli raid on the town of al-Ram, north of occupied East al-Quds. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its teams treated a 30-year-old man who was shot in the foot near the separation wall before transferring him to hospital. Meanwhile, six Palestinian families in Nablus were forced to evacuate their homes ahead of planned demolitions ordered by Israeli authorities in the Ta’awon neighborhood, citing construction in Area C of the West Bank.
These incidents come amid heightened Israeli military operations and settler violence across the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023. Palestinian officials report that more than 1,085 Palestinians have been killed, over 10,700 injured, and more than 20,500 detained in the territory during this period. Rights groups have warned of increasing risks of ethnic cleansing, while a July 2024 ruling by the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s prolonged occupation unlawful and called for the removal of settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
