ALWAGHT- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has praised Iran as a global exemplar in defending international law, commending the country’s steadfast support for Caracas amid growing pressures from the United States.
During his weekly TV program, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro praised Iran for its steadfast and principled positions on the global stage, highlighting Tehran’s unwavering support for Venezuela’s sovereignty and stability. He detailed a recent phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, noting that Iran’s backing is “total and unconditional,” extending to Venezuela’s fight for peace, dignity, and long-term stability.
Maduro described Iran as a “shining example in the struggle to establish international rule of law” and thanked the Iranian leadership for its firm support. He emphasized that this assistance is not temporary but intended to last indefinitely, underscoring the depth of the bilateral relationship.
The context of this support comes amid increasing US pressure on Venezuela, including a military buildup in the Caribbean and multiple strikes on alleged drug vessels, resulting in numerous casualties. Iran and Venezuela, longstanding allies, continue to cooperate politically, economically, and diplomatically, while opposing unilateralism and Western sanctions.
