Alwaght-The Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces has joined the war on terrorism by fighting in the same trench of the Iraqi army and armed volunteers against the ISIS terrorist group. The Iraqi Kurds not just have repelled the attacks of the ISIS terrorist, but also freed some area from the grip of ISIS in the Northwestern area of Iraq. Meanwhile, the trio-power of the army, armed volunteers, and the Kurds constitute the strong resistance front that is tightening the noose around the Takfiri groups in the ISIS-held area .
ISIS launched a sweeping militant offensive that has overrun swathes in Iraq since June 2014, presenting an existential threat to the country's Kurdish region .
The terrorists have been also carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations, against all Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians .
The Iraqi army, backed by pro-government tribes, armed volunteers and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, has so far managed to make significant gains in the fight against the terrorists. Kurdish forces have been fiercely battling ISIS terrorists in Syria and neighboring Iraq in recent months .
The Kurdish fighters succeeded in seizing the strategic town of Kobani on the border with Turkey and battles have since continued for the recapture of nearby villages .
The loss of the border town was viewed as a major blow to ISIS terrorists, who started advancing on Kobani on September 2014, in order to strengthen control over a long stretch of the Syrian-Turkish border .
Currently, the offensive by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces to retake territory from the ISIS group in northwestern Iraq is gaining momentum .
The Iraqi northern town of Amerli, located between Baghdad, and the northern city of Kirkuk, which had been under control of the ISIS terrorists for more than two months, has been freed and the terrorists have been completely flushed out by the Iraqi army, armed volunteers, and the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters .
The Kurdish Peshmerga have liberated seven new villages Northwest of Mosul. Peshmerga fighters have also recently reclaimed around 500 square kilometers of territory, after launching a ground operation Northwest of Mosul. The new gain had cut ISIS’s main supply line from the city to the West
The Peshmerga forces also made advances in South and Southwest of Kirkuk by recapturing several villages. The Kurdish troops drove the ISIS militants out of Maktab Khaled, Mulla Abdullah, Tal Ward, Meryam Beg and a number of other villages south of the city .
The Peshmerga fighters have managed to kill many Takfiri militants and capture others .
The Kurdish troops declare that they do not have much faith in US-led airstrikes against ISIS .
Following the ISIS attacks, the Kurds say they are reinforcing their presence in regions which they see as a gate to oil-rich Kirkuk .
The Kurdish troops have suffered heavy setbacks with a large number of casualties, but still they have managed to push back ISIS from no less than a dozen of villages .
Iraqi Kurdish officials stressed that the Peshmerga forces will keep cooperating with the Iraqi armed forces until the complete liberation of Mosul province .
It is said that a thousand-strong force comprising Iraqi army troops, armed volunteers, and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters is set to launch a large-scale military operation aimed at liberating the ISIS-held city of Mosul. As predicted, the offensive will involve between 20,000 and 25,000 troops .
According to some military officials, the offensive will start in April or May, but it may fluctuate to later time in the year .”
Previously, the Iraqi’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi confirmed that government forces were planning an offensive on Mosul .
Mosul is home to more than one million people. The city fell to ISIS militants in June 2014 .
There are reportedly between 1,000 and 2,000 militants with ISIS Takfiri terrorist group holding Mosul .
Iraqi soldiers, police units, Kurdish forces, Shia and Sunni tribesmen, and armed volunteers have succeeded in driving the ISIS terrorists out of some areas in Iraq. The following year will witness more victories by resistance front against the terrorist front represented by ISIS .
