ALWAGHT- Renewed violence in Gaza claims two civilian lives, with several wounded, following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement.
On Monday evening, Israeli military actions in Gaza resulted in the deaths of two more Palestinian civilians, according to the Palestinian WAFA news agency. The report states one woman was killed by shelling west of Deir al-Balah and another was fatally shot by an Israeli drone in Jabalia. Additional civilians were injured in a separate drone strike on tents for displaced families near Gaza City.
These attacks violate a ceasefire agreement that began on October 11. The broader conflict, which started in October 2023, has now claimed 70,365 Palestinian lives, with over 171,000 injured. Even during the ceasefire period, the violence has persisted, with 376 Palestinians killed and 981 injured since it took effect, and rescue teams recovering hundreds of bodies from under rubble.
Several international human rights organizations and expert bodies, including the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry and the International Association of Genocide Scholars, have concluded that Israel's military offensive in Gaza amounts to genocide. This assessment underscores the severe and ongoing humanitarian crisis in the territory.
