Alwaght – Palestinian Hamas Movement slammed a decision by the US to enlist one of its top officials as terrorist.
The US State Department declared that it has enlisted Fathi Hammad, former Hamas Interior Minister as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) on Friday.
The Palestinian Movement controlling the Gaza strip strongly rejected the decision saying “this is a serious development that reflects the total US bias to the Israeli occupation”.
The statement called the US decision a “provocation to the feelings of a whole nation and called on the State Department to reverse the move."
“This decision will not terrorize us or nip the will of our people to defend their rights in the bud,” the statement added.
The US uses its definition of terrorism to compile a list published and updated each year which includes many popular resistance movements as terrorists while excluding a number of groups widely known for their terrorist activities around the world.
The Iranian Mojahedeen Khalgh Organization (MKO) is a prominent example of terrorist groups exempted from this list. The Organization has carried out multiple bombing and assassinations inside Iran and killed some 17,000 iranians, however recently the US helped its members flee their embattled Iraqi camp and resettle in Albania.
