Pope Provokes Turkish President Anger

Alwaght- At a meeting of the Turkish Exporters Assembly on April 14, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denied the massacre of 1.5 million Ottoman Armenians claimed by Pope Francis.

On Sunday 11 April at a mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics has called killing 1.5 million Ottoman Armenians a genocide by the Ottoman Turks starting in 1915.

Pope Francis in his lecture and later in a message to all Armenians, has repeated his stance on this issue, whereas Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has harshly condemned him and urged him not to repeat his mistake on Ottoman Turks.

According to Ukraine Today, Turkey has consistently denies the 100 year ago massacre of Armenians as a genocide and claims they were victims of civil war.

By recalling Turkish ambassador to Vatican, Erdogan has practically condemned Francis of spreading "hatred and unfounded claims".
