Alwaght- US President-elect appointed the first members of his cabinet including the White House Chief of Staff and the chief strategist.
The republican US president-elect Donald Trump has appointed Reince Priebus as the White House Chief of Staff and Stephen K. Bannonas the chief strategist on Monday.
Mr. Priebus is the chairman of the Republican National Committee. K. Bannonas is however a right-wing media executive who served as the chairman of the president-elect’s campaign.
The later created a wave of protest among democrats and some republicans who accuse him of being the man behind Trump’s racist and sexist remarks during his campaign. Trump instead named him chief strategist and senior counselor in the White House, saying that he and Priebus would be “working as equal partners” in the administration.
Donald J. Trump’s transition team, which was handed over to Vice President-elect Mike Pence on Friday and includes a host of corporate consultants and lobbyists in addition to independent experts, is moving quickly to assemble leaders of the new administration.
The right wing John Bolton is also a potential candidate for the Secretary of State where his anti-Russian views may get in the way with more moderate views of Trump and his approach to mend ties with Moscow.
Though John Bolton former US ambassador to the UN under George W. Bush is considered the main candidate for the job, some other names have come up including Bob Corker senator from Tennessee and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Even Rudolph W. Giuliani Former New York mayor and Zalmay Khalilzad former US ambassador to Afghanistan are mentioned as possible candidates.
Defense ministry is where Donald Trump is looking to divert the offensive against the ISIS terrorist in Syria and launch a realistic cooperation with Russian forces in countries like Syria and Iraq.
For the Defense ministry, Trump is most likely to name Kelly Ayotte departing senator from New Hampshire and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee or Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Stephen J. Hadley National security adviser under George W. Bush and Jon Kyl former senator from Arizona are also among possible names.
Second to the secretary of state, the US ambassador to the United Nations will be the primary face of America to the world, representing the country’s interests at the Security Council on a host of issues where Trump has promised a change of directions.
Kelly Ayotte departing senator from New Hampshire and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee is the main candidate for the position while Richard Grenell Former spokesman for the US ambassador to the United Nations during the George W. Bush administration may also come up for the position.
Trump takes over at a time of diverse and complex threats to American security. The new C.I.A. director will have to decide whether to undo a C.I.A. “modernization” plan put in place this year by Director John O. Brennan, and how to proceed.
Apart from Defense Ministry, Michael T. Flynn former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency is also the main candidate to lead the secret service while Peter Hoekstra former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee is a second name for the position.
The national security adviser, although not a member of the cabinet, is a critical gatekeeper for policy proposals from the State Department, the Pentagon and other agencies, a function that takes on more importance given Mr. Trump's lack of experience in elective office.
In case Michael T. Flynn loses the two previously mentioned positions in the cabinet, he would be named as the national security advisor as sources inside Trump’s team say.
