ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the UK ambassador to Tehran to protest the baseless accusations made by British officials against Iran.
On Friday, Iran responded to repeated baseless claims by British officials accusing Tehran of interfering in the UK’s internal affairs.
UK Ambassador to Tehran, Hugo Shorter, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry by Alireza Yousefi, Iran’s Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General of the Western Europe Department, to address the issue.
During the meeting, Yousefi formally conveyed Iran’s protest, emphasizing that the hostile remarks and unfounded allegations made by British officials contradict international law and diplomatic conventions. He warned that such statements would further deepen the Iranian people’s mistrust of the UK’s policies toward Iran and the broader West Asia region.
The Iranian diplomat also stressed the need for London to reconsider and revise its unconstructive approach toward the Iranian people. In response, the British ambassador stated that he would relay Iran’s protest to his government.
