ALWAGHT- On Sunday, Palestinian resistance group Hamas rejected media reports claiming it had agreed to relinquish its weapons under a US-backed Gaza plan supported by Israel, calling them false and misleading.
Hamas has rejected media reports claiming the group agreed to hand over its weapons under a US-backed Gaza plan, calling the allegations false and part of a coordinated effort to undermine Palestinian resistance. Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi described the reports as baseless and misleading, urging journalists to verify information and avoid spreading rumors that serve the occupation’s narrative.
The media claims suggested that Hamas would transfer its arms to a Palestinian-Egyptian committee under international supervision. While Hamas has agreed “in principle” to discuss a US 20-point Gaza plan, it firmly rejects any measures that would compromise its right to resist occupation. Egypt is set to host talks between Hamas and Israel on a prisoner exchange under the proposal.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, as Israeli forces have killed over 67,000 Palestinians since October 2023, primarily women and children. The prolonged assault has devastated neighborhoods, leaving civilians facing starvation, disease, and destruction in what Palestinians describe as a campaign of extermination.
