Alwaght-Several people have been injured in a series of fierce clashes between Indian police forces and the Kashmiri demonstrators protesting against the Israeli atrocities and occupation of Palestine.
A large number of protesters took part in a rally in Srinagar, the largest city of the disputed Himalayan valley, following Friday prayers, and demanded an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
Similar rallies were also held across other cities and towns of the Muslim-majority region to show solidarity with Palestinian people and their cause.
The mass rally turned violent after police fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters in Srinagar.
The angry demonstrators chanted pro-Palestinian slogans and burned the Israeli flags.
They also urged international community to take serious steps to halt the Israeli aggressive policies and its expansionist agenda.
The protesters also called for the prosecution of the perpetrators of war crimes committed during the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip last summer.
Gaza has been under the devastating blockade since 2007. The Tel Aviv regime has ever since launched three wars on the impoverished Palestinian enclave.
Kashmir itself lies at the heart of a bitter territorial dispute and more than 67 years of hostility between Pakistan and India.
New Delhi and Islamabad claim the region in full, but rule parts of it only.
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire in Kashmir in November 26, 2003, and launched a peace process the following year. Since then, there have been sporadic clashes, with the two sides trading accusations of violating the ceasefire along their de-facto border dividing the disputed Kashmir.
Thousands of people have lost their lives in Kashmir unrest over the past two decades.
