Alwaght- Bahraini regime forces have detained a senior official from the al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the main opposition bloc in the country.
Activists say Majid Miladwas arrested on Wednesday following accusations of inciting an anti-government campaign in the tiny Persian Gulf country.
Milad had earlier said the ruling Al Khalifa regime in Bahrain had been ignoring an imminent threat posed by ISIS Takfiri terrorist group which has declared its aim to target mosques in the country.
His comments came after successive attacks by ISIS terrorists on Shia worshipers inside mosques in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
In a post on his Twitter account, before being arrested, Milad stressed that Bahraini Shias would not leave mosques empty because of ISIS threats.
The opposition leader’s arrest has triggered condemnation inside and outside Bahrain.
Bahraini activists have vowed to take to the streets in protest of his arrest.
Elsewhere the Bahraini security authorities summoned the Assistant Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq, Khalil Al-Marzooq, for questioning over the political meetings he held during Ramadan in a number of villages across the island kingdom.
Al-Marzooq was questioned about his last seminar in Al-Diraz village, held on June 27, 2015, despite the security forces' attempts to prevent it.
The authorities charged Al-Marzooq with insulting the Bahraini Ministry of Interior by mentioning in his seminar the events that took place in Jaw Central Detention, considering that he implied that acts of torture occurred inside the prison.
The authorities also charged Al-Marzooq with inciting hatred against the regime, based on another excerpt of the same seminar.
Meanwhile demonstrations against the Al Khalifa family have intensified recently after the sentencing of the leader of Al-Wefaq, Sheikh Ali Salman, to four years in jail.
