ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the sole topic to be discussed during the upcoming indirect talks with the US in Oman will be the nuclear issue, with a focus on providing assurances regarding the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
In a meeting with media and cultural activists in Algeria, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi outlined the agenda for the upcoming indirect talks between Iran and the US, scheduled for April 12 in Oman. He emphasized that the sole focus will be on the nuclear issue—specifically, ensuring transparency and providing assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions.
Araghchi described the Muscat negotiations as a fresh diplomatic opportunity and a critical test of the US government’s sincerity, referencing America’s history of unilateral actions and failure to uphold commitments. He confirmed that he and US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff will lead the discussions.
Separately, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urged the US to demonstrate genuine intent in pursuing negotiations. He warned that Iran would not engage in talks under coercive or demeaning conditions, underscoring the need for mutual respect and fairness in the diplomatic process.
