ALWAGHT- Officials from Iran and Belarus reached an agreement on Saturday to reinstate direct flights connecting Tehran and Minsk.
The Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Jabbar Ali Zakeri, visited Minsk to attend the 3rd International Transport Conference 2025, where he signed a document to enhance cooperation between Iran and Belarus via the North-South Railway Corridor. Zakeri, also serving as Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, formalized the agreement on the sidelines of the event.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen their transit and rail cargo capacities through a structured program aimed at boosting international freight movement. The focus is on leveraging existing routes and enhancing infrastructure to maximize the corridor’s potential.
Iranian Ambassador to Belarus, Alireza Sanei, emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in advancing bilateral ties. He also highlighted the need to relaunch direct flights between Tehran and Minsk as a vital step toward deepening cooperation between the two countries. The conference runs from April 11 to 13.
