Iran Denounces the Lethal US Attack on Yemen

Alwaght- Over three days have gone since the US-Britain coalition resumed bombing Yemen in a joint aggression. The bombing has so far killed over 60 Yemenis, mostly women and children, and wounded many others.

In the deaths of the bombing campaign that was started with Trump's order the names of children are repeatedly seen.

Interestingly, in the morning of the same day that Yemeni children were killed in a bombing campaign ordered by Trump, the US president posted a photo of himself with an American child on the White House grounds. Perhaps Trump intended to show himself to be a child-lover by posting a photo of himself next to an American child, but his bombing of Yemen once again showed that the rhetoric of defending human rights and children's rights is empty.

At the same time, the bombing over the past few days has caused massive damage to civil infrastructures. Now the question is here: Will the American military pressures bring the Yemeni forces to their knees?

US, the advocate of Israel

The US claims that it carries out its attacks on the Yemeni forces to restore security to the navigation in the Red Sea, a maritime area where the Yemeni forces since the beginning of Gaza war attacked Israeli ships and oil tankers bound for Israel to force Tel Aviv to end its genocidal war on the Palestinian enclave. In fact, Yemeni forces are targeting ships and tankers that serve Israeli interests, because according to the Yemeni government, attacks on ships bound for Israel are carried out in response to Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. In other words, by bombing Yemen, Washington has appeared as Israel’s advocate in the genocide against Gaza, and now it is the US, not Israel, that is responding to Yemen’s attacks on Israeli interests along the Red Sea route.

The reality is that the Yemeni operations in the Red Sea against the Israeli-bound ships have managed to pressure Israel to a large extent. The impacts of Yemeni attacks against the Israeli interests are as follows:

Rallying customer prices and inflation in Israel: The Yemeni threats have led to an increase in the prices of products, especially food, in Israel due to a shortage of goods in the market amis increase in the cost of shipping and the increase in the rate of risk insurance. Alternatives to sea transportation are very expensive and the Israeli economy cannot bear it in the long term. Actually, the operations of the Yemeni armed forces against Israeli ships in the Red Sea have placed an additional burden on the Israeli economy, the only artery of which is Eilat port as the largest platform for imports.

40-50 percent increase in transportation costs in Israel: According to sources affiliated with the Israeli UPS shipping and logistics company, sea transportation rates from Asia to the occupied territories have seen an increase of between 40 and 50 percent. Most shipping companies have announced that they are unloading their cargo in European ports and transporting it to the occupied Palestinian territories on small ships, which in turn increases costs.

Bankruptcy of Israel's key port: Last summer, the southern port of Eilat announced bankruptcy due to 85 percent drop in its operations as a result of Yemeni attacks on the ships sailing in the Red Sea. Eilat is much smaller than the Mediterranean ports of Ashdod and Haifa, but the attacks by Yemeni forces have had a major impact on Israeli trade. The port, which plays a major role in bulk loading and car imports, is now facing a serious crisis due to a sharp decline in activity and revenues.

Despite the heavy attacks conducted by the US against Yemen, there are no signs Yemenis will stop operations against Israel:

We respond to the US: Just contrary to the American calculations, Yemenis said that they will strike the American targets and interests in the region in response to its crimes. In other words, the US campaign not only has failed to stop operations against the Israeli interests, but also it brought danger to the American interests, too. On Monday, in the wake of a new wave of US attacks, Yemen announced that it attacked the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman twice in 24 hours. The Yemenis also warned that they will step up their attacks in response to the new US attacks.

Experience of countering American bombs: This is not the first time Yemen is being bombed by the American bombs. Since 2015 Saudi-led Arab coalition against Yemen, the Saudis frequently used American-provided bombs. These attacks, which continued until 2022, never caused the Yemeni forces to back down. On September 26, 2019, Amnesty International published a report pointing to the use of US-made bombs in deadly attacks against Yemeni civilians.

Since March 2015, the Amnesty International researchers investigated tens of cases of airstrikes by the Arab coalition and repeatedly discovered remnants of US-made munitions. So, as the American bombs in the Saudi-led war against Yemen failed to stop the Yemenis, now they are unlikely to impact the resolve and decision of Yemen's people and leaders to support Palestine.
