Alwaght- A new report says there is a growing bullying culture in UK police meaning that junior officers are often too scared to confront their bosses over misconduct.
The highly critical report on cases of racism and sexism was released by the College of Policing. It said police chiefs have used their expenses to fund extramarital affairs and have been guilty of “potentially predatory, sexual conduct towards junior colleagues”.
The study was commissioned in 2013 after a series of high-profile misconduct cases. Academics interviewed officers and investigators who had probed 40 misconduct cases, which had mainly taken place between 2008 and 2013.
Experts see the problem lies in the demoralization process pressed ahead by UK politicians.
“The problem is that the UK has a basic set of values and moral values as a nation, now these rules are being debunked and rubbished by a series of progressive politicians such as David Cameron and Nick Clegg,” said Human Rights activist ,William Spring.
He went on adding that there is no stability and ground around which people can express themselves in moral disapproval. He emphasized that:”Moral disapproval is considered to be wrong. Now, if officers have been engaged in sexual misconduct, either against female officers or against male policemen, this is not surprising. The current status in Britain, the current climate, allows anything to go on. Many police are under the tyranny of political correctness as they cannot talk. “
The activist referred to an expense scandal in the House of Commons saying the Lords and various MPs and peers were reprimanded for misuse of expenses.
He added:” I am afraid they would take in their cue from the public services as a whole. This money is not their money, it is public money and it should be accounted for. If it cannot be accounted for, then the officers responsible should be arrested and put on trial. “
