Alwaght-ISIS Takfiri terrorists have killed at least 19 policemen and trapped others inside their headquarters during an attack on a town in Iraq's Anbar province, as Press TV reports.
Following a siege which started on Friday, the terrorists took the town of al-Wafa located about 20 miles west of Anbar's capital Ramadi, on Saturday, Iraqi officials say.
"Police forces have been fighting ISIS terrorists since Friday, but lack of ammunition forced it to retreat and losing the town. I'm frustrated because we were left alone without support," said al-Wafa's mayor Hussain Kassar.
Police forces backed by tribal fighters failed to prevent the terrorists from crossing the sand barrier surrounding the town.
According to reports, two other towns to the west Ramadi -- Hit and Kubaisa -- are now controlled by ISIS terrorists.
ISIS terrorists have also put the town of al-Baghdadi, also situated to the west of Ramadi, under siege and summarily executed at least 21 tribal fighters after capturing them near the town.
The corpses, which had bullet wounds in the chest and head, were found dumped in an orchard near the city.
ISIS terrorists launched an offensive in Iraq in June and took control of the country’s second largest city, Mosul, before sweeping through parts of the country’s Sunni Arab heartland.
The Takfiri militants have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against all Syrian and Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
Senior Iraqi officials have repeatedly blamed Saudi, Qatar, and some other Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.
