Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes on Lebanon as UN Charter Breach

ALWAGHT- Tehran has condemned Israel’s repeated attacks on Lebanon, calling them a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law, despite the 2024 ceasefire agreement.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire with Lebanon, describing the attacks as clear breaches of the UN Charter and international law. He also criticized the United States and France, the ceasefire guarantors, for their inaction and urged the international community to take decisive steps against Israel’s aggression in the region.

The latest escalation saw Israeli airstrikes early Saturday target southern Lebanon, killing one person and injuring seven others. The strikes hit six heavy equipment yards between Msayleh and an-Najjariyah, causing severe damage, cutting off roads, and impacting civilians, including Lebanese and a Syrian national.

Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in November 2024 and Lebanon’s extension of the truce in January 2025, Israel has continued assaults and maintains control over five key areas in southern Lebanon. Lebanon has condemned this ongoing presence as a violation of the ceasefire and the agreed-upon withdrawal schedule.
