Alwaght- Russian ambassador to the UN called on the members of the Security Council to support its proposed resolution for Syria.
"We hope that tomorrow morning, we can go for a vote and adopt it unanimously," Russia's Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Friday.
The resolution aimed at a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria was brokered by Russia and Turkey and negotiations over the proposed plan initiated on Friday behind closed doors.
The UNSC is supposed to vote of the draft this afternoon which calls on the Syrian government and its opposition to enter direct talks at the end of January in the Kazakh capital, Astana.
The talks aim to reach a political solution to put an end to years of violence ignited by foreign-backed militant groups in the Syria.
The ceasefire agreement excludes the terrorist groups of ISIS and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front.
The truce was mediated by Moscow and Ankara, which were respectively representing the Syrian government and the anti-Damascus militants.
Ankara has stepped up its cooperation with Moscow recently, prompting speculation that Turkey might be moving away from the United States, which is supporting Kurdish fighters and militant groups in Syria.
