ALWAGHT- A senior Hamas official states that the Palestinian resistance movement is prepared and committed to starting a new round of indirect talks with Israel, aiming to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and achieve a lasting ceasefire.
A senior Hamas official, Taher al-Nunu, expressed readiness to agree to any proposal that clearly outlines the conditions for ending the war, emphasizing their seriousness in reaching an agreement. However, he criticized Palestinian-American activist Bishara Bahbah, who has been mediating between the Trump administration and Hamas, as unqualified and unsuitable for the mediator role.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majid al-Ansari, announced efforts to resume negotiations between Israel and Hamas to achieve a Gaza ceasefire. While no talks are currently underway, communications aim to find a way back to negotiations. He noted positive signals from Washington but acknowledged complications in the process. Meanwhile, Egypt is working on a new ceasefire deal involving a 60-day truce, the release of some Israeli captives, and increased humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with over 56,500 Palestinians killed and more than 133,000 injured since October 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over alleged war crimes, and Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice due to its ongoing military actions in Gaza.
