ALWAGHT- Iran’s foreign minister expressed appreciation for China’s constructive and impactful role within international institutions, especially the UN Security Council, in condemning acts of military aggression by Israel and the United States against Iran and its nuclear infrastructure.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ Council in Tianjin, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed regional and international developments, expressing mutual appreciation for each country’s diplomatic conduct. Araghchi thanked China for hosting the event and commended Wang Yi’s firm condemnation of Israeli and US aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and nuclear facilities, citing violations of international law.
Araghchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to strengthening its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with China, grounded in mutual respect and historical ties. He praised China’s constructive and principled stance in international forums, particularly at the UN Security Council, and called for global responsibility in safeguarding peace following recent hostilities against Iran.
Wang Yi reiterated China’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and praised Tehran’s restrained and responsible approach in the face of aggression. He voiced opposition to unilateralism and emphasized diplomacy as the path forward, offering China’s continued support for de-escalation efforts. Both sides also reviewed progress on bilateral economic and trade projects and discussed future cooperation within the SCO framework.
