ALWAGHT- The head of Israel’s air defense array has been replaced in the aftermath of recent Iranian missile strikes on Israeli-held territories.
Brigadier General K. has officially taken command of Israel’s air defense array, replacing Brig. Gen. G., who held the post for the past four years, according to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth. The transition ceremony took place at the Air Defense School and was led by Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar. This leadership shift follows a broader shake-up within the Israeli military, as the IOF (Israel Occupation Forces) announced seven senior General Staff appointments, approved by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and War Minister Israel Katz.
The command change comes in the wake of a 12-day US-Israeli war on Iran, during which Iran launched a series of retaliatory missile strikes targeting Israeli-occupied territories. These strikes caused significant destruction, numerous casualties, and forced widespread evacuations. The war inflicted severe damage on Israeli military infrastructure, raising questions about the performance of its air defense systems.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Iran refined its missile strategy during the conflict, using longer-range and more advanced weaponry launched from deeper within its territory. Analysts observed that as the war progressed, Iran fired fewer missiles but achieved greater precision and impact by adjusting timing and diversifying target locations. These developments exposed vulnerabilities in Israel's air defenses and underscored Tehran’s evolving military capabilities.
