Iran will participate in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Russia

ALWAGHT- Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, is set to participate in the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Russia.

Leading a delegation, Ghalibaf will depart Tehran for St. Petersburg on Wednesday evening to participate in the event.

Scheduled to be held at Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg on July 11 and 12, as part of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship, the forum's theme, according to the Roscongress Foundation, is 'The Role of Parliaments in Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security'.

The forum will commence with a plenary session titled 'The Parliamentary Dimension of BRICS: Prospects for Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation', followed by a ceremony to sign a protocol to the memorandum of understanding on the BRICS Parliamentary Forum.

The first day's sessions will include an expanded plenary meeting with parliamentary delegations from BRICS countries, invited states, and inter-parliamentary organizations. Discussions will focus on the parliamentary role in enhancing the efficiency and democratization of the international relations system.

The second day will start with another expanded plenary session discussing the parliamentary role in countering the fragmentation of the multilateral trading system and addressing threats posed by global crises.

The third session will cover inter-parliamentary humanitarian and cultural cooperation. The forum will conclude with a closing ceremony marking the end of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.
