ALWAGHT- Tehran supports regional peace and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said, stressing the need for dialogue between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan on the sidelines of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref welcomed the peace talks between neighboring countries and emphasized the importance of resolving regional conflicts through dialogue and negotiation.
Aref stressed that Iran supports the establishment of peace and lasting stability in the region, highlighting that such outcomes would benefit all countries involved. He underscored Tehran’s position that regional issues should be resolved independently, without foreign interference.
Reaffirming Iran’s support for the participation of friendly nations in regional organizations, Aref expressed backing for Armenia’s bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Armenia formally applied for membership in July, with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stating that the move aligns with Yerevan’s strategy of maintaining a balanced foreign policy.
