ALWAGHT- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran will consider any plan that ensures its right to continue uranium enrichment.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized on Monday that uranium enrichment is a fundamental right of Iran as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He noted that although the idea of a regional uranium enrichment consortium, previously suggested by former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, has appeared in past talks, it never progressed to implementation. Baghaei stated that Iran remains open to any plan that guarantees its enrichment rights.
Baghaei also reiterated that any future negotiations with the United States must address Iran’s demand for compensation due to US support of Israel’s June aggression against Iran and direct US military strikes on Iranian territory. He stressed that any such talks would be fundamentally different from those held before the June 13 attacks and criticized dismissals of Iran’s compensation demand as legally uninformed, citing past international court rulings against US actions.
Regarding new US sanctions on Iranian individuals and shipping companies, Baghaei condemned the measures as violations of international law that disrupt global trade. However, he expressed confidence that Iran has learned to withstand such unlawful sanctions and continue safeguarding its national interests despite external pressures.
