Four killed, Republican Congress Member Injured in US Shooting Incidents

Police respond to shooting at UPS San Francisco facility

Four people have been killed including the gunman while a Republican member of Congress has been injured in separate shooting incidents in the US.

Alwaght- Four people have been killed including the gunman while a Republican member of Congress has been injured in separate shooting incidents in the US.

Police say the gunman killed three people at a United Parcel Service facility in San Francisco on Wednesday morning before fatally shooting himself in front of police officers, authorities say.

Steve Gaut, a UPS spokesman, said the shooter was a driver and in uniform. The workers involved in the shooting were gathering for their morning meeting before heading out to make deliveries, he said. The motives of the shooting have not been established.

In another incident on Wednesday, a gunman opened fire at a US congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday, wounding multiple people, including the third-ranking House Republican.

Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise was shot in the hip. He underwent surgery at Medstar Washington Hospital Center and is in critical condition. Earlier, a statement from his office characterized his condition as stable.

The man identified as shooting the Republican member of congress and four others was a small business owner in Illinois who defined himself publicly by his firm support of Bernie Sanders' progressive politics -- and his hatred of conservatives and President Donald Trump.

Officials say James T. Hodgkinson as 66-year-old James from the St. Louis suburb of Belleville, Illinois, had raged against Trump on social media and was a member of anti-Republican groups on Facebook including, "The Road to Hell Is Paved With Republicans," "Terminate The Republican Party," and "Donald Trump is not my President," a search of his Facebook profile showed.

Each year, more than 32,000 people die as a consequence of gun-related violence in the US, which is by far the highest among industrialized countries, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
