ALWAGHT- Iran has announced a notable increase in exports to Africa as it seeks to diversify its export markets and lessen reliance on direct oil sales.
Iran’s exports to Africa have surged in recent months, with shipments rising 2.2 times in the four months to late July compared to the same period last year. Iranian non-oil exports now reach 34 African countries, up from 29 in March, reflecting broader market expansion.
Officials say exports are expected to grow further with increased shipping activity and relaxed customs regulations. Data from the Iranian customs office shows that exports to Africa rose 85% year-on-year in the three months to late June, surpassing $260 million.
Iran has actively sought to strengthen trade ties with Africa, hosting a major economic cooperation conference in Tehran in April. These efforts align with the country’s strategy to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on oil revenues by expanding its non-oil export markets.
