ALWAGHT- Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has urged the expansion of concrete bilateral ties and broad cooperation with neighboring Iraq amid evolving global developments.
Iran’s top security official, Ali Larijani, met with Iraqi Shia cleric Seyyed Ammar Hakim in Tehran, emphasizing the need for more tangible and objective cooperation between Iran and Iraq. Larijani described Iraq as a strong regional partner and called Tehran-Baghdad relations strategic, highlighting the importance of deepening bilateral ties.
Hakim praised Iran’s response to recent Israeli military aggression, saying the 12-day conflict enhanced Iran’s influence in West Asia and underscored the region’s growing awareness of Israel’s actions. He supported Iran’s characterization of Israel as a destabilizing force, noting that recent events confirmed Iran’s warnings about the threat posed by the “Greater Israel” agenda.
The two leaders also discussed broader regional developments, including security agreements and joint efforts to strengthen stability in the region. Their talks followed a series of escalations, including Israeli attacks on Iran, US involvement, and Iran’s retaliatory operations, culminating in a truce agreement with Israel.
