ALWAGHT- The World Assembly of Islamic Awakening’s secretary general, Ali Akbar Velayati, called for swift, practical action against Israel’s continued crimes in Gaza, condemning them as intentional genocide and a clear violation of human rights.
At a meeting of the Supreme Council of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening in Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati delivered a statement titled “Palestine, the Axis of Islamic Unity.” He condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as a deliberate and systematic “war against humanity,” pointing to the blockade of essential supplies and the bombing of hospitals, schools, mosques, and homes. He described the campaign as “planned genocide” and ethnic cleansing in violation of human rights and the UN Charter.
Velayati accused the Israeli regime, backed by Western powers, of committing atrocities such as burying children alive, targeting women and Palestinian elites, and destroying infrastructure in what he called a crime against humanity and an attempt at demographic genocide. He stressed that expressions of condemnation are not enough, urging immediate and practical steps to confront these crimes.
He called for reopening humanitarian passages, creating an international tribunal, imposing sanctions on Israel, and ensuring uncensored human rights reporting. Velayati also urged Islamic nations and the global community to end cooperation with Israel while fully supporting Palestinian resistance. He warned that silence in the face of Israeli crimes would only lead to greater disasters in the future, reaffirming solidarity with Gaza until refugees can freely return to their homes.
