Hezbollah Chief Rejects US Neutrality, Quotes Resistance as Power

ALWAGHT- Hezbollah’s Sheikh Naim Qassem says Lebanon’s strength lies in resistance, adding that the US cannot act as a neutral mediator due to its inaction on Israel’s ceasefire violations.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s deputy leader, criticized the United States as biased toward Israel, saying Washington has failed to condemn Israeli attacks on Lebanon and has pressured the country to weaken its sovereignty. He highlighted over 5,000 Israeli violations of the US-brokered ceasefire and accused the US of justifying these assaults rather than supporting Lebanon.

Qassem praised Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s decision to strengthen the army and urged the government to develop a clear plan to protect national sovereignty in southern Lebanon. He emphasized that the government bears responsibility for liberating occupied land, rebuilding the country, and safeguarding Lebanese prisoners.

Amid calls from the US and Israel to disarm Hezbollah, Qassem reaffirmed the group’s role in defending Lebanon, warning that surrendering its strength would serve Israel’s goal of establishing a “Greater Israel.” He stressed unity among Lebanese factions and adherence to the Taif Agreement as essential for national stability and resistance against occupation.

Qassem also condemned Israel for violating the ceasefire agreed in November 2024, pointing out that Israeli forces remain stationed in Lebanese territory and continue repeated assaults. He warned that these violations threaten Lebanon’s stability and called on society to resist Israeli aggression to reclaim and secure the country’s land.
