ALWAGHT- Over the last day, Israel has conducted four incursions in southwestern Syria, targeting areas in Quneitra and Daraa.
Israeli forces have intensified operations in southwestern Syria, deploying tanks and military vehicles across highways, roads, and village entrances in Quneitra and Daraa. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported four incursions over the past 24 hours, accompanied by drone flights and heightened security along the ceasefire line with the occupied Golan, reflecting ongoing tension and instability.
The increased Israeli movements are seen as attempts to impose a new reality along the border, with SOHR warning that military activity in the demilitarized zone could expand further. These operations come amid broader security concerns, including the recent attack on a passenger coach between Damascus and Suweida, which killed two people and left others wounded.
Sectarian violence continues across Syria, particularly targeting minorities. In Suweida Province, clashes between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes in July killed hundreds amid reports of HTS-led summary executions. In Homs, unknown militants killed Alawite teacher Raham Nizar Hamouda by throwing grenades into her home, following a pattern of attacks on religious minorities.
The situation reflects Syria’s ongoing chaos since Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, backed by foreign fighters, seized control of Damascus in December 2024. His regime’s crackdown on minorities, combined with Israel’s persistent cross-border operations, has contributed to the country’s deepening instability and humanitarian crisis.
