ALWAGHT- The Palestinian Civil Defence reports that Israeli attacks across Gaza have killed at least 104 Palestinians, 46 of them children, in the last 24 hours.
The Palestinian Civil Defence has called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and urged the opening of safe humanitarian corridors to deliver fuel, equipment, and essential supplies for ongoing rescue operations. Recent Israeli bombardment has killed over 100 Palestinians, with casualties reported across central, northern, and southern Gaza. The escalation followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s order for “powerful strikes” after an exchange of fire in southern Rafah injured an Israeli soldier.
Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, accused Israel of violating the truce and announced a delay in handing over the body of a missing captive, while claiming to have recovered two additional Israeli captives during search operations. Israel stated that its strikes targeted dozens of Hamas positions, marking the deadliest night of bombing since the US-brokered ceasefire went into effect earlier in October.
The United Nations described the attacks as “appalling,” highlighting that strikes reportedly hit schools, homes, and tents for internally displaced people. UN rights chief Volker Turk emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure, calling for adherence to international humanitarian law amid the ongoing violence.
International responses have urged respect for the ceasefire. Qatar expressed hope that the US-backed truce would hold despite recent violations, while Hamas called on mediators to pressure Israel to halt attacks. The European Union also stressed the need for all parties to respect the ceasefire, urging measures to preserve opportunities for peace and prevent further escalation.
