ALWAGHT- On Monday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Hudaydah port on the Red Sea.
Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Yemen’s Hudaydah port, targeting engineering vehicles, fuel containers, and naval vessels, according to the Israeli army. The Yemen Press Agency reported no immediate casualties or significant damage from the attack. The strikes were reportedly in retaliation for recent Yemeni missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets.
Since the onset of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, the Yemeni Armed Forces have carried out operations against Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea, declaring their actions as solidarity with Palestinians. Nearly 59,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza. Yemen has also launched missiles into Israeli territory, including a recent hypersonic ballistic missile strike on Ben Gurion airport.
Yemen has vowed to continue its attacks as long as Israel’s assault and blockade on Gaza persist. In response to US support for Israel and its establishment of a Red Sea maritime task force, Yemeni forces have intensified strikes on American military assets, including warships and aircraft carriers stationed near Yemen.
