Iran, Russia to Launch Joint Naval Drill in Caspian Sea

ALWAGHT- Iranian and Russian naval forces will conduct a joint exercise in the Caspian Sea next week.

The joint maritime rescue and relief exercise, CASAREX 2025, is scheduled to commence in the Caspian Sea on Monday, July 21, running for three days. This important exercise will be hosted by the northern fleet of the Iranian Navy, showcasing a unified commitment to the theme, “Together for a Safe and Secure Caspian Sea.” The drill aims to enhance coordination and readiness among the participating naval forces in responding to maritime emergencies and disasters.

CASAREX 2025 will bring together servicemen from multiple branches, including the Iranian Navy, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN), the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the Russian Navy. The inclusion of these diverse forces highlights the comprehensive approach to maritime security and emergency response. Additionally, observers from other Caspian littoral states will attend, promoting transparency and regional cooperation.

The primary objectives of CASAREX 2025 include improving search and rescue operations, fostering interoperability between participating navies, and strengthening maritime safety protocols. The exercise will simulate a range of emergency scenarios such as shipwrecks, oil spills, and natural disasters, enabling forces to practice coordinated relief efforts. Beyond enhancing tactical capabilities, the drill underscores the strategic importance of the Caspian Sea as a shared resource, emphasizing collaboration to ensure peace, stability, and security in the region’s waters.
