Alwaght- Russia condemned the recent US-led coalition attack on Iraqi city of Kirkuk as war crime against the country.
Touching on the repetition of US attacks on civilians, the Russian defense ministry said it is a “routine” practice by the coalition forces to hit civilians and convoys.
"We have observed several times that these deadly strikes ... which have all the hallmarks of war crimes, have practically become a daily routine by the international coalition's warplanes,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement released on Saturday.
Referring to the Russian reconnaissance on the area he added there had been no ISIS activity in the region though Russians detected two jets raiding the area.
"Judging by the eyewitness accounts, the mourning procession was mistaken for terrorists by the coalition aviation. Dozens of Iraqi civilians died, including women and children,” he added.
US-led coalition forces raided a Shiite worship place in the town of Daquq near Kirkuk on Friday killing at least 15 women. The US claimed they were targeting ISIS members in the region.
"Too often weddings, funerals, hospitals, police stations and humanitarian convoys are being hit by the coalition warplanes,” Konashenkov said.
