Alwaght-Syrian military’s victories, in both the northern and southern fronts - namely in Aleppo and the surrounding areas and regions close to Jordan and the occupied Golan heights - is a clear message not only to the parties involved in the Syrian crisis, but the whole world. The message says that the Syrian government and its supporters are determined to end the military side of the crisis and intend to clean up Syria as soon as possible from the presence of the terrorist groups. The series of operations that took place on the two front in recent weeks showed that the army and the popular committees are completely ready and the four-year war did not affect their determination and the capabilities yet.
Several months ago, the Syrian army announced its intention to clean Aleppo - the terrorists’ headquarters - through military operations such as the North Storm operation. Therefore, Aleppo is important in particular, because it is located close to the Turkish borders. Throughout the four years, the Turkish government has backed up the terrorist groups through these common borders. Actually, Turkey presented various kinds of support to the terrorist groups. They presented them with training, equipment, armor, and financial support.
The Syrian army is planning to complete the encirclement of the city of Aleppo, through the operations that it launched two weeks ago. It also aims to disconnect the terrorists in the city from the Turkish supporters, as a similar scenario in Homs city.
The field reports also confirm that the Syrian army is rapidly advancing toward Aleppo. This has caused terrorism sponsor states, especially Turkey, to get into action and deploy their military and intelligence officers on the battlefield in Aleppo to prevent the fall of the most important city under the control of terrorist groups. On February 22nd, the Turkish government raised an incursion involving tanks, drones and reconnaissance planes as well as several hundred-ground troops. In addition, the Syrian military - through serious control of the Turkish borders - can prevent the entry of terrorists and support to its national territories. In case this happened, the military operations scene in Syria could significantly change.
Over the past three weeks, the Syrian military has launched successfully serious military operations on the Southern borders - a strategic area and the second front - of the country near the borders with Jordan and the occupied Golan. In the recent months and for various reasons, the Zionist regime and Jordan were effortlessly trying to create a new front in Kenitra; a town bordering occupied Golan, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syrian territories. This area, due to its vicinity to aforementioned countries, can always support them. In case the military operations were successful in deteriorating the terrorists group in these areas, due to its vicinity with occupied Golan, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, this area’s future will not meet Homs future. This is because the terrorists could retreat to the mentioned countries in case they were defeated.
In the same context, in the last few months, we have witnessed thousands of terrorists who have pledged allegiance to Al-Nusra Front and came to settle in the region.
The Syrian army figured out this plan and knew that this is a great threat to Syria’s future. Thus, the army worked fast to lay down plans for the serious confrontation of the terrorists at this front. The operational reports also say that the terrorist have been defeated and backed out in a little time than expected. The control of the strategic heights, which are on the verge of this front, is one of the most prominent achievements of the Syrian army, which will define the crisis’ fate in the following days.
In fact, the terrorists and their supporters did not imagine that the Syrian army, and with its occupation in Aleppo, will be able to operate in the Southern front. Thus, it seems that they were surprised with this unexpected defeat.
At this stage, the continuous achievements of the Syrian army’s operations at this front are either of the following. Either, it kills all the terrorists in the region through continuing the operations against them; or, the Zionist regime and Jordan will allow the retreat of the terrorists into their territories, in order to prevent the demolition of the terrorist groups. In case the second scenario was true, it will have adverse consequences, especially for the Zionist regime.
In the end, we should say that the Syrian government, with the support of the Syrian army and the popular committees, was able to tip the scale in its favor, through determination and implementing smart strategic operations. The opponents of the Syrian government comprehended this, clearly. Some Arab states demonstrated their will to reopen their embassies in Damascus and to discontinue their hostility against Syria. In addition, the Head of the American Intelligence Agency, James Clapper, complied with the fact that Turkey has interfered in the Syrian crisis and has opened its borders for the terrorists. He added that Turkey does not have the intention to confront ISIS. All these facts show that there is an intention to change the approaches toward the Syrian crisis.
