ALWAGHT- The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called the second round of indirect Iran-US nuclear talks "positive," emphasizing the Agency's critical role in verifying any agreement reached between the two parties.
Rafael Grossi expressed optimism about the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran regarding Tehran's nuclear program. In an interview with Italy's La Repubblica newspaper, he stated that both sides were "prepared to discuss concrete aspects" of the issue.
The next round of negotiations is set for April 26 in Muscat, Oman, with technical-level meetings planned to fine-tune the details of the potential agreement. The talks will focus on critical issues, such as managing Iran's uranium stockpile and providing credible guarantees to Iran in the event of a US breach. Although challenges persist, these diplomatic efforts represent a significant step toward addressing the long-standing tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program.
Grossi expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in the negotiations.
The US withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018 under President Donald Trump, re-imposing severe sanctions on Iran.
