A Third Round of Talks Between Iran and The US Is Anticipated in The Near Future

ALWAGHT- Media reports suggest that Tehran and Washington are expected to hold the third round of nuclear negotiations in the coming days.

An IRIB reporter stated that due to the constructive atmosphere of the discussions, it is expected that the delegations from Iran, Oman, and the United States will conduct a third round of talks in the coming days.

The indirect talks between Iran and the US concluded as scheduled at around 18:00 Iran time. Mediated by Oman, the discussions took place at the Omani embassy in Rome.

The indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by Oman, have been a part of ongoing efforts to address the longstanding issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions. These discussions are seen as a continuation of diplomatic efforts that began with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015, which aimed to curb Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, the US withdrew from the agreement in 2018 under the Trump administration, and tensions have escalated since then.

The recent rounds of talks are being held in Rome, with the delegations of Iran, the US, and Oman working towards finding common ground on key issues, particularly regarding the removal of sanctions imposed on Iran. The constructive atmosphere reported in the recent discussions is seen as a positive sign, as both sides look for a pathway to de-escalate tensions and revive the nuclear deal, or at least find a compromise that addresses both security and economic concerns.

While the talks have been indirect, with both the US and Iran not meeting face-to-face, the involvement of Oman as a mediator has been crucial in keeping the channels of communication open. The potential for a third round of talks suggests that progress may be made, though significant challenges remain, particularly with regard to guarantees and the removal of sanctions. Both Iran and the US have emphasized their commitment to a diplomatic solution, but the outcome remains uncertain as the negotiations continue.
