Alwaght- 18 people were killed during the latest US drone attack in the eastern Nangarhar province in Afghanistan on Wednesday.
Some local Afghan sources also reported that the attack has left at least 25 civilian casualties.
The drone targeted a crowd of civilian people in the house of a tribal leader who were gathered to welcome the leader back from his Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
At least 12 people were also wounded in the strike, including the tribal leader, Esmatullah Shinwari, a Nangarhar lawmaker, told the Associated Press.
The US military confirmed the attack calling it a “counter-terrorism airstrike in Achin district”. The military said they cannot share more details due to security reason.
"We are aware of some claims of Afghan casualties,” he said, adding that investigations were underway.
