Late Syrian President Predicted Iran on Its Side in Time of Need

Syrian Parliament Speaker meets Iranian Speaker

The late Syrian President, Hafiz Assad had predicted that Iran will stand by his country in time of war

Alwaght- The late Syrian President Hafiz Assad had predicted that Iran will stand by his country in time of war, the Syrian Parliament Speaker said.

Responding to a question about the Syrian help to Iran during its war with Iraq, Hadiyeh Khalaf Abbas said it was like the late president had predicted the future when he had said “we stand by them [Iranians] like a brother now and support them with all our power; there will be a time when they will be the only ones beside us when our friends would leave us alone”.

“The prediction is now proved during the present Syrian crisis”, she said.

Referring to the Arab countries that left Syria alone in time of need, she said “we could not have last if were not for the help of Iran”.

“None of our Arab friends stood by Syria; but now we call on them to stop their malevolence against Syria,” she added “by our Arab friends I mean Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey”.

Referring to the recent US attack on Syrian army in Deir Ezzor that killed 80 soldiers, she said it is the best proof for US-ISIS complicity and added “whenever we gain a victory against terrorists, it is a victory for the whole world”.

Focusing on recent victories in the field, she said “Syria is now conducting military actions against terrorism as well as approaching political activities toward a civil peace”.

But the Syrian people are the final source to decide the fate of their country, she added.
