Alwaght – The Iraqi army fighting with tribal units against ISIS terrorist group has managed to liberate a strategic region in the western al-Anbar province.
The Jazira al-Haditha region was captured by the state forces and their allies, a high ranking Iraqi official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Arabic-language al-Sumaria television network on Wednesday.
The army is further advancing toward the Jazirah al-Baghdadi area in an operation targeted to clean the area from ISIS terrorists that control the region since 2014.
The attacks killed 15 terrorists and destroyed 11 ISIS rocket launching pads. The developments came a day after army troops and allied paramilitary tribal fighters managed to free the villages of Jirnaf, Eitha, Ba’ajah, Khanouga and Jmesah on the outskirts of the northern town of Shirqat.
They later entered the village of Houriyah on the northern edge of Shirqat, and freed the village of Jumaila on the western flank of Shirqat.
