ALWAGHT- Iran and Pakistan intend to raise their annual trade volume to $10 billion, according to President Masoud Pezeshkian.
President Masoud Pezeshkian traveled to Lahore at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, leading a high-level delegation to strengthen bilateral ties. Before his departure, Pezeshkian emphasized the long-standing and deep-rooted relationship between Iran and Pakistan, particularly in the areas of trade, science, culture, and border cooperation. A key focus of the visit is to expand border trade via land, sea, and air routes and to connect both nations more deeply through regional infrastructure like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Iran’s link to Europe.
Pezeshkian also highlighted shared security concerns, stressing the need for coordination to ensure regional stability. He thanked Pakistan for its firm condemnation of the recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran and underscored the importance of unity among Muslim nations in the face of divisive external threats. He warned that efforts to create discord in the Muslim world would fail due to strong bilateral and regional cooperation.
In a parallel message, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote that Iran-Pakistan ties are grounded in shared history, culture, and strategic interests. He emphasized the need for vigilance against terrorism in border regions and called for a united front against destabilizing forces like Israel’s aggression in the region. Araghchi concluded by affirming that Iran and Pakistan should not only deepen their partnership but also work together to build a peaceful and integrated regional future.
