Alwaght – The US police officers have killed an unarmed disabled black man leading to protests across the Charlotte city in North Carolina.
Large number of protestors gathered in front of the police offices in the city after the 43-year-old Keith Lamont was shot dead by a police officer on Tuesday.
The witnesses say the deceased was holding only a book when the officer shot him claiming a self-defense urgency.
The anti-riot police officers deployed gas canisters at the protesters gathered to protest what is now called a routine killing of unarmed black men in the US.
The killing came a day after another unarmed black man was shot dead in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the shooting officer also claimed a self-defense urgency.
Charlotte Police officers were searching the apartment complex for a suspect with an outstanding warrant when they gunned down Scott. The victim was not the person they were originally trying to find.
US African-American population has been seriously doubtful of the countries police force after numerous reports of killings of unarmed black people emerged.
According to CMPD data compiled by the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, while black people are only 35 per cent of the Charlotte population, they make up 50 per cent of stops by police, 68 per cent of searches, and 74 per cent of cases involving use of force.
