ALWAGHT- Israeli media condemned the recently brokered ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement aimed at halting the conflict in Gaza, arguing that it allows Hamas to maintain its control over the territory.
Israeli media have characterized the Gaza ceasefire agreement, announced last night between the Israeli regime and the Hamas movement, as a victory for Palestinian resistance. They argue that Hamas has achieved its primary objectives of maintaining control over Gaza and preventing any Israeli influence in the region.
Israeli outlets stated that while Hamas succeeded in its goals, Israel failed to achieve its objectives. Zvi Yehezkeli, an Arab affairs analyst for i24NEWS, commented that the challenge lies in managing the aftermath of the agreement, which he believes signifies Israel's inability to alter the dynamics in Gaza. He remarked, 'Hamas only wants one thing, and it is steadfast in its goal... It wants total control of Gaza.'
Micha Kobi, a former Shin Bet security official, criticized the ceasefire deal, calling it 'one of the worst deals Israel has made.' He described the agreement as far from ideal, emphasizing that Israel was left with no better options. Kobi also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the fate of captives as one of the agreement's significant challenges and noted the price Israel is paying for its failure to protect settlers from abduction.
