UN Accuses Israel of Summary Execution in Killing of Two Palestinians

ALWAGHT- The UN has condemned the killing of two Palestinian men by Israeli forces during a West Bank raid, calling it a “summary execution” and warning it points to a broader pattern.

Two Palestinian men were shot dead during an Israeli raid in Jenin despite appearing to surrender and being unarmed, according to journalists and video recordings. The footage shows the men complying with orders before being fatally shot at close range.

The UN human rights office condemned the killings as a “summary execution,” with spokesperson Jeremy Laurence calling the incident a “brazen killing.” UN rights chief Volker Türk has demanded independent investigations and accountability for those responsible.

Laurence said such killings are rising without punishment, noting that more than 1,030 Palestinians — including at least 223 children — have been killed in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 7, 2023, according to UN data.

Palestinian officials and groups labeled the incident a war crime and urged international action, as violence continues to escalate across the West Bank. Rights organizations warn the situation is moving toward forced displacement, while an ICJ advisory opinion in 2024 declared Israel’s occupation unlawful.
