ALWAGHT- Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has reaffirmed that international inspectors have found no evidence indicating that Iran is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons.
At the Baku Climate Change Summit on Tuesday evening, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), clarified that international inspectors have found no evidence suggesting Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. He expressed hope for progress in addressing safeguard issues during his upcoming visit to Tehran.
"We must prevent this gap in trust from turning into a situation where nuclear facilities become potential targets," Grossi said. He emphasized, "We have a problem that needs to be solved." Grossi is set to travel to Tehran on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
In response to questions about concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Grossi reiterated that the IAEA has no evidence to support claims of weapons development.
Earlier in a CNN interview, Grossi explained that his trip to Iran aims to explore diplomatic solutions to ongoing issues. He noted that this visit is part of an ongoing process to resolve outstanding matters.
Discussing the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he remarked that the topic is not confidential and that Iran’s new administration is actively seeking solutions.
During his visit, Grossi is expected to meet with Iran’s President, Foreign Minister, and the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
