ALWAGHT- Iran's leading military general stated that the country showed self-restraint in response to the Israeli regime's aggression in July, but its patience was exhausted after the assassination of Hezbollah's secretary general and a senior Iranian commander.
Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, addressed the aftermath of Operation True Promise II on Wednesday, highlighting Iran's initial self-restraint following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the former Hamas leader, in Tehran on July 31. Baqeri noted that Iran had exercised restraint despite pressure from the US and Europe to maintain peace in Gaza amid ongoing Israeli aggression.
However, he stated that the situation became intolerable after the assassinations of Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian commander General Abbas Nilforoushan during Israeli airstrikes in Beirut. In retaliation for these attacks and the continued aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, Iran launched hundreds of missiles targeting Israeli military and intelligence bases in the occupied Palestinian territories during Operation True Promise II.
Bagheri described the operation as "heroic," with successful strikes on significant Israeli airbases, including the Mossad headquarters and other military installations. He asserted that the Iranian Armed Forces are well-prepared for future confrontations, claiming that their capabilities far exceed those demonstrated in the recent operation.
The General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces issued a statement framing the operation as a necessary response to Israel's violation of Iran's sovereign rights and warned that any further aggression would lead to widespread destruction of Israeli infrastructure. They also cautioned US and allied intervention in the conflict, indicating that such actions would elicit a strong response targeting their interests in the region.
