Alwaght- Five Shiite Muslims have been killed after a terrorist opened fire at a Shiite religious meeting hall (Husseiniya) in Al-Kawthar district of of Saihat city in Eastern Saudi Arabia. The ISIS terrorist group has officially taken responsibility for the Friday night sectarian attack. Reports say the deadly assault was carried out by a newly-instituted Bahraini branch of the ISIS terrorist group. Those killed were identified as Ali Hussein Al-Saleem, Abdullah Al Jassim, Ayman Al Ajmi, Abdulsatter Busaleh and Ms. Buthaina Al-Abad.
Eyewitnesses say the attacker arrived in a taxi before being stopped at a checkpoint by Shiite volunteers. The man said to be in his twenties by Saudi state television, then engaged in a shootout, before police took him out. Saudi state media also confirmed that the attacker is a member of ISIS.
At the time of attack, the Shiites were commemorating the beginning of the mourning rituals of the month of Muharram, the 10th day of which, known as Ashura, marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Imam Hussein (AS).
The ISIS terrorist group was blamed for two mosque attacks that resulted in 25 deaths in May, and another that killed 15 people in August. Since the attacks, volunteer security guards have sprung up around mosque complexes in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The country’s security forces said that they arrested 431 ISIS members in a special operation in July.
ISIS Takfiri terrorists currently control large section of land in Syria and Iraq while carrying out attacks in countries such as Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt and Libya. The Syrian government blames Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and the Israeli regime of being the main backers of ISIS terrorists in the region.
