ALWAGHT- Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, rejects European sanctions, condemns Israeli regional aggression, and affirms Iran’s support for the Resistance and Muslim countries.
In an exclusive interview during Iran’s Sacred Defense Week, Ali Akbar Velayati, senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, rejected Europe’s revival of nuclear sanctions on Iran and condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza and Qatar. He reaffirmed Tehran’s support for the Axis of Resistance, Palestinian self-determination, and the rights of oppressed peoples across the region.
Velayati criticized the European Troika’s snapback mechanism as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, framing it as part of longstanding Western hostility aimed at pressuring Iran and undermining its scientific and defense advancements. He warned that Tehran would respond to such provocations with strength, asserting that these measures would only deepen Europe’s isolation.
The Iranian official also drew parallels between former US President Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler, criticizing Western duplicity in supporting Israeli aggression while later attempting to distance themselves. He condemned Israel’s attacks on Qatar as part of a broader campaign against Muslims, linking modern Zionism to extremist movements behind post-9/11 regional wars, and urged Islamic and Arab nations to learn from these experiences.
Addressing the situation in Gaza and the broader Resistance, Velayati denounced Israel’s actions as genocide and cultural erasure, stressing that international condemnation alone is insufficient. He called for urgent measures, including opening humanitarian crossings, prosecuting Israeli war criminals, imposing sanctions, and ensuring uncensored media coverage, while praising the resilience of the Lebanese, Iraqi, and Palestinian Resistance movements.
